Test-day checklist
- All London taxi drivers and Knowledge of London applicants must pass the taxi driver SERU (since 1 October 2025). Passing the PHV SERU does not count.
- Book by emailing assessments@tph.tfl.gov.uk. Existing drivers are contacted at renewal; applicants should pass by the end of Stage 5.
- Read the London taxi (black cab) driver handbook: every question is based on it. A copy is given to you during the assessment (open book).
- Complete TfL's free online Safeguarding Awareness course before the assessment.
- Bring original photo ID (no photocopies) and a payment card (£40 first attempt, £30 re-sit; no American Express).
- Arrive early at the TfL Driver Assessment Centre, 14 Pier Walk, London SE10 0ES (North Greenwich).
- Format: 36 questions in about one hour: multiple choice, choose-all-correct, reading a handbook extract and filling in missing words. Pass mark 60%.
- Results within 15 days. If you fail, book and pay for a re-sit; a licence is not granted until you pass.
